ASHOE/MAESA Ground DataASHOE-MAESA_Ground_Data is the ground site data collected during the Airborne Southern Hemisphere Ozone Experiment/Measurements for Assessing the Effects of Stratospheric Aircraft (ASHOE/MAESA) suborbital campaign. Data collection for this product is complete. The ASHOE/MAESA campaign was a multi-organizational effort of NASA, NOAA, and the US Natinal Science Foundation (NSF). The meteorological s

Macquarie Island nitrogen dioxideSlant column densities of stratospheric nitrogen dioxide (NO2) determined from spectroscopic measurements of zenith scattered twilight at wavelengths from 430-485 nanometres. These data are provided by the NDACC (Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change) on an annual basis and then stored at the AADC. Only data that are two years old are made available. Measurements of the UV radiation (Blue, Violet, UVA and UVB) falling on sea ice in McMurdo Sound, quantification of sea ice algae and the effect of snow thickness on the transmissivity of sea ice to UV radiationThe relative amounts of visible, near and far UV radiation (Blue, Violet, UVA and UVB) falling onto sea ice in McMurdo Sound was measured at a site well cantered in the ice, i.e. not at the ice edge. Two instruments were used to measure the UV levels. One is a three channel motor, which measures the total downward radiation in the Blue, Violet and Ultraviolet regions. A shade can be used to separa

Atmospheric and Meteorological Data From the Kuwait Oil Fires Taken from Ground ObservationsGround-based studies of the smoke and air quality from the Kuwait oil fires were carried out in 1991 at the end of the Persian Gulf War. Over 600 oil wells, storage tanks, and refineries were ignited by the Iraqi army as they fled Kuwait in Frebuary 1991. The fires produced large smoke plumes which had a significant environmental effect on the Persian Gulf region. Ground-based observations of the
