Molecular characterization of flower bud dormancy under constrained temperatures

Listed in NCBI GEO

Temperate perennial plants have to adapt their growth in order to survive over winter conditions and protect their tissues by entering into dormancy.

Description

The dormancy phenomenon is a complex process regulated by many factors, externals (photoperiod and temperature) or internals through the transport towards the buds. In order to better understand the molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of dormancy, we conducted a transcriptomic analysis of flower buds from the late flowering sweet cherry cultivar 'Regina' in controlled conditions with a cold deprivation treatment under short days (day length of 8h) and in field conditions from July 2018 to June 2019 and repeat the cold deprivation treatment but in long days (day length of 16h) from July 2020 to June 2021.

Moreover, to complement this experiment in order to explore the response to temperature in this opposite way, we performed a cold exposure from July 2023 and March 2024 in long days (day length of 16h).
