Technical plants (KN-704)

It includes 141 plant specimens belonging to 92 genera and 28 families. Among them are 103 annual, 7 biennial, and 46 perennial plants.

The collection contains samples obtained from European and Asian countries and the USA through seed exchange and collected from natural habitats. The most numerically represented families are Amaranthaceae, Asteraceae, Fabaceae, Malvaceae, and Chenopodiaceae. Based on their uses, technical plants are regarded as sources of raw materials for various sectors of the economy and include oil-producing, fibre, dye, cellulose-producing, sugar-producing, inulin-containing, starch-producing, tannin-containing, narcotic, insecticidal, and green-manure plants, as well as plants used as raw materials for tools, weaving, and decoration.
