EDIA – Global Bird Monitoring Program of the Alqueva Dam (EFMA) Secondary Irrigation Network, block C - Large steppe species: Great Bustard (Otis tarda) [2021]

The dataset contains records of the Great bustard (Otis tarda) collected in the area of the Secondary Irrigation Network of the Alqueva Dam, block C (irrigation blocks of Baleizão-Quintos, Beringel-Beja, Cinco Reis, Ermida, Ervidel, Roxo-Sado and São Pedro-Baleizão) and a control area, performed within the General Bird Monitoring Plan of the area, promoted by EDIA, S.A. Data were collected in the winter, spring and summer of 2021.

An ad-hoc number of road transects was performed to detect the target species (in the surrounding fields) using 550 km road net of the study areas (396 km in the impact and 153 km in the “contorol” zone). A total of 145 contacts from the Great Bustard was obtained.
