Effect of source and amount of vitamin D fed in late gestation on mammary development of Holsteing cows
Listed in NCBI GEO
The overall goal was to understand the influence of vitamin D prepartum on lactation performance of dairy cows.
Description
The objective was to determine the effects of source and amount for vitamin D fed to prepartum cows on expression of gene networks in mammary tissue during late gestation. Cows were fed 1 of 4 vitamin D treatments beginning at 250 d of gestation: 1 mg/d cholecalciferol (CHOL1), 3 mg/d cholecalciferol (CHOL3), 1 mg/d calcidiol (CAL1), or 3 mg/d calcidiol (CAL3).
Mammary parenchyma tissue was collected for biopsy at 270 to 274 d of gestation.
