Occurrence records of the widely distributed bathyal serpulid Neomicrorbis azoricus from a global review by the Australian Museum.

Listed in GBIF

The study examines unpublished specimens of Neomicrorbis collected by Helmut Zibrowius during numerous European (mostly French) Oceanographic Expeditions between 1959 and 1994, which are deposited in the Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt (SMF), Germany, and the Museum National d’Histoire Natural (MNHN) in Paris, France.

Description

A topotypical specimen of Neomicrorbis azoricus, deposited in the Zoological Museum of Amsterdam (ZMA), now part of the Naturalis Biodiversity Centre, the Netherlands, was also examined.

Fresh specimens were collected off the Cocos (Keeling) Islands during a 2022 research voyage aboard the Australian RV Investigator to the Australian Indian Ocean Territories (IOT) and deposited in the Australian Museum, Sydney.
