Inpatient and Day Case Activity

Listed in NHS Scotland Open Data Portal

An inpatient is a patient who stays in hospital for one or more nights and occupies an available staffed bed.

Description

An inpatient’s admission can be an emergency, an elective (planned/routine) or a transfer.. A day case is a patient who comes into hospital for a more involved procedure than an outpatient.

This may need some recovery time at the hospital, but the patient should be able to go home the same day.
