Description
***This dataset is available on Brisbane City Council’s open data website – data.brisbane.qld.gov.au. The site provides additional features for viewing and interacting with the data and for downloading the data in various formats.*** Regional Ecosystems (Cover Codes) in the Brisbane City Council area. Regional ecosystems (RE's) are vegetation communities in a bioregion that are consistently associated with a particular combination of geology, landform and soil (Sattler and Williams 1999, Vegetation Management Act 1999\).
Vegetation Cover\- Brisbane supports a range of different vegetation cover. These being Remnant and Non\-remnant vegetation. Remnant vegetation is further split into regional ecosystems, whilst non\-remnant is split into eight.

- Canal \- man\-made.
- Disturbed \- predominantly thinned vegetation that no longer meets criteria for remnant vegetation on the basis of canopy cover.
- Exotic \- vegetation dominated by exotic species.
- Native plantation e.g. Eucalyptus spp., mixed native cabinet timber species.
- Plantation \- predominantly pine plantation (Pinus spp.) and hoop/bunya pine.
- Regrowth \- vegetation that has been cleared and has regrown but still does not meet the criteria for remnant vegetation.
- Rehabilitation area \- actively managed e.g. 2 Million Trees area.
- Water \- anthropogenic water bodies. This dataset was derived from the Queensland Herbarium dataset Regional Ecosystems 2015\.
