His focusses mainly on the deportation of his neighbours, which made a big impression on him. He also talks about posting the farewell letters he found alongside the railway tracks. Jewish prisoners on their way to Poland threw them from the trains.

As a child, the interviewee was also at the Westerbork concentration camp several times, and he also relates some of his memories of this.
