Research progress on the role of TARM1 in infectious diseases
Listed in ScienceDB
T cell-interacting activating receptor on myeloid cells 1 (TARM1) is a member of the leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor family, and its gene is located in the 19q13.42 region of chromosome.
Description
It transduces activation signals by specifically binding to the adaptor protein Fc receptor γ chain (FcRγ), and is mainly expressed in myeloid cells such as macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes. TARM1 plays a core role of "bidirectional regulation" in bacterial infections such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Salmonella, as well as in tissue and organ damage caused by these infections (such as acute kidney injury and colitis) : it not only participates in anti-infection defense by enhancing the antibacterial function of myeloid cells and activating adaptive immune responses, but also regulates the intensity of inflammation through the ubiquitin-autophagy degradation pathway to prevent tissue and organ damage.
This article systematically reviews the structure and expression characteristics of TARM1, deeply analyzes its mechanism of action and regulatory network in different infectious diseases, explores its clinical application potential, and provides new targets and experimental evidence for the immunotherapy of infectious diseases.
