Bat wintering records from Belarus

It documents the presence and abundance of bat species in underground shelters, such as basements, cellars, fortifications, and other subterranean spaces.The surveys were conducted primarily during the winter months (November–February) across all regions of Belarus.For each observation, the following information is provided: species, number of individuals recorded, sex (if determined), exact date, and geographic coordinates.

To protect sensitive hibernation sites from potential disturbance or vandalism, the coordinates have been intentionally generalised (with an uncertainty of approximately 1 km). The original exact locations are known to the authors and are available to researchers upon reasonable request for conservation or scientific research purposes.In many cases, accompanying remarks indicate the presence of other hibernating arthropods, including butterflies (e.g., Scoliopteryx libatrix, Aglais io, Triphosa dubitata), spiders, and mosquitoes that share hibernation sites with bats.The data were collected by visual inspection of hibernation sites and are based on non-invasive observations, ensuring minimal disturbance to the animals.
