MATLAB Land Surface Model: MATLSM

Listed in ScienceDB

MATLSM is a global offline daily land surface model (LSM) developed in MATLAB.

Description

It calculates canopy processes, snowpack, soil moisture, soil temperature, and surface energy and water fluxes for each land grid cell. The model performs daily, grid-by-grid checks for the conservation of water mass, surface energy, and soil thermal storage.Version 1.0 is designed as a research-oriented land surface model characterized by a clear structure, numerical stability, and ease of diagnosis and further development.

It is well-suited for conducting multi-year global offline simulations, research on soil moisture and evapotranspiration, parameter sensitivity analysis, and prototype validation of new parameterization schemes. It is not intended to be a comprehensive Earth System Model (ESM) and does not include atmospheric feedbacks or river routing.
