Hourly Shortwave Solar Irradiance - MSG

Listed in NASA Earthdata CMR

Estimation of the solar irradiance reaching the Earth surface, derived from the geostationary satellite Meteosat, derived at present from the 0.6µm visible channel of SEVIRI, produced by remapping over a 0.05° regular grid and expressed in W/m2.

Description

Algorithm is a physical parameterization applied separately to every pixel of a satellite image to derive an instantaneous field of the Solar Surface Irradiance. An essential point is the calculation of products interpolated at rounded UT hours.

A radiative flux calculated on a satellite image is not homogeneous in time (the pixel time varies from north to south, of about 12 minutes for Meteosat data).
