I created this file on 25 Jan 1995.
Description
I assume that I checked this file TWO TIMES at creation. I used these same data for Hoogland 1998 (Estrus and copulation of Gunnison's prairie dogs.
Journal of Mammalogy 79: 887-897. See Fig 3, page 891). Year = year of observation Female body masses are from the following three days: (a) two days before parturition (b) one day before parturition, and (c) on day of parturition Parturition = giving birth All body masses in GRAMS GPD year = 89 = 1989, 90 = 1990, 91 = 1991, etc.

I considered data from the same prairie dog in different years to be independent. All data from GPDs at Petrified Forest National Park-- i.e., no data from GPDs at Valles Caldera National Preserve Bloody = 1 = blood in or near vagina on day of parturition Bloody = 0 = NO VISIBLE BLOOD in or near vagina on day of parturition See text for how I identified the day of parturition. For Fig 17.1, I do NOT show data for bloody GPD vagina.
GPD Redondo Meadow Colony (RMC, studied in 2013 through 2016) was at Valles Caldera National Preserve (VCNP). GPD Visitor Center Colony (VCC, studied in 2017 and 2018) was also at VCNP. GPD colony at Petrified Forest National Park (PEFO) was studied from 1989 through 1995.
Similar data are available for GPDs, but NOT for UPDs and WTPDs because of so much disturbance associated with trying to capture female prairie dog on day of parturition File name = Fig 17.1, GPDs, Body mass vs parturition, 18 June 2026
