Canadian Health and Disability Survey, 1983-1984: Child File

The project was sponsored by the Health Division of Statistics Canada in response to the recommendation by the Special Parliamentary Committee on the Disabled and the Handicapped, in 1981, to initiate a long-term programme to generate comprehensive data on disabled persons in Canada.

The Children's file contains interviewer-administered questionnaire responses collected from adults who completed the Labour Force Survey. These individuals provided answers on behalf of children aged 15 and under. Categories include: screening, nature of disability, education, transportation, economic characteristics, and demographic variables.
