Data for: "The Importance of Microphysics for Climate Intervention via Stratospheric Solid Particle Injection"

data.zip contains postprocessed output of the ACCM SOCOL-AERv2.
Description
There is a seperate file for each injection scenario with different compounds. The scenarios are labelled *alumina* (Al2O3), *calcite* (CaCO3), *diamond* (C), *sic* (SiC; silicon carbide), *titania_a* (TiO2; anatase), *titania_b* (TiO2; rutile) (all solid aerosols), *ref_so2* (SO2; sulphur dioxide).
Each scenario refers to an injection rate of 5 Mt/yr of the respective compound between 30°N and 30°S at 55 hPa at all latitudes. *ref* refers to the reference simulation without aerosol injection. Each ensemble member was run for 20 years, starting in 2020, while the data represents averages over the last 15 years. Each scenario consists of 3 ensemble members, labelled e.g., *alumina*, *alumina_1*, *alumina_2*.

All files contain a 15-year and zonally averaged output of different variables, except files labelled with *_ensemble.nc, which contain 3×180-months (all 3 ensemble members). ca_sbaer* contains the total stratospheric aerosol burden; IdealAge* contains the Age of Air; srad0* and trad0* contain the incoming shortwave and outgoing longwave radiation, respectively, at the top of the atmosphere; te_m* contains the temperature, TotCa* contains the total number density of particles in the stratosphere; u_m* contains the zonal wind. optical_properties.zip contains the optical properties for all solid particle types at their “optimal” size as well as their agglomerates.
The text files contain the scattering cross section, the absorption cross section and the asymmetry factor for all particle types and their agglomerates.
