Replication Data for: Fig 19.12, WTPDs, Polyandry vs monandry, same females, 02 July 2026

Listed in data.InDoRES

On 20 July 2021 I make several changes, and change the file name to the following: Another OLD file name = WTPDs, Polyandry, Final revision, 20 July 2021.

Description

See that file. Over time, this file has now been checked TWO TIMES--three times for most variables

On 26-27 Dec 2022, I add data for the following variables: Years data, All Mono, All Poly, Switcher, Mean Litt, Mean Yrl. I have obtained these data from SYSTAT summary BY EARTAG of EXCEL file = WTPDs, Polyandry, Final Revision, 20 July 2021, 27 Dec 2022 All Mono = 1 = WTPD female was monandrous every year All Poly= 1 = WTPD female was polyandrous every year Switcher= 1 = WTPD female was monandrous for at least one year and polyandrous for at least one year Years data = number of years for which I observed >=1 cop for each WTPD female For most WTPD females, I have data from one year only.

Polyscore = 1 = monandrous every year for >=2 years Polyscore = 2 = polyandrous every year for >=2 years Polyscore = 3 = monandrous for >=1 year and polyandrous for >=1 year

Note

Polyscores are only for females for which I recorded cops for >=1 year

Note

Data in this file for Variables A through I are IDENTICAL on 27 Dec 2022 to same variables in OLDFile = WTPDs, Polyandry, Final Revision, 20 July 2021, 27 Dec 2022 All data in this file checked TWO TIMES on 27 Dec 2022 File name= WTPDs, Poly vs Mono, same females, 27 Dec 2022 Lac = lactating = long, turgid nipples TDF or Tiny = teats are Tiny, Dry, and Flat—so that female did not give birth or lost her offspring soon after parturition MDF = teats are Medium, Dry, and Flat—so female gave birth but lost her offspring at 1-2 weeks after parturition LDF = teats are Long, Dry, and Flat—so female gave birth but lost her offspring in late lactation Mean Litter size = mean litter size for this female over her lifetime Mean Yearlings = mean number of yearlings produced by this female over her lifetime These data used for Fig 19.12 in Hoogland 2026.

This file ready for longterm storage on 01 April 2025. Fem body mass = body mass just before, during, or just after the mating season = <=15 April Female age = number of years since female first appeared aboveground at natal nursery burrow Litter size = litter size at first emergence of offspring from their natal nursery-burrow = number of weanlings Yearlings = number of weanlings that survived for >= 9 months after first emergence Age = number of years since first emergence from natal nursery-burrow.

Sexual partners = number of different males with whom female copulated in year. Years data = number of years for which have data on number of sexual partners For this EXCEL file and Fig 19.12, I only used females for which I had at least 2 years of information on level of postscore = level of polyandry. When a female had double estrus in same year, I used data from SECOND estrus only.

Mixing occurred when juveniles from one litter mixed/mingled with juveniles from another litter before I could capture, eartag, and mark juveniles from both litters. When Mixing occurred, me estimates of maternity and littermate sibships were uncertain All WTPD data in this EXCEL file and in Fig 19.12 are from single WTPD study-colony at Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge near Walden, Colorado Microsats = microsatellites used to help determine maternities and paternities of weanlings.

Final age = final age when mother known still be alive Many of the data in this EXCEL file are NOT used for Fig 19.12 IMM = immigrant = UPD that moved into Horse Corral Colony from another colony OR = original resident at start of research, for whom I had no information on exact or reproductive history File name: Fig 19.12, WTPDs, Polyandry vs monandry, same females, 02 July 2026
