Above ground insect occurences across Namibia in 2023

The objective of the study was to assess avian biodiversity and distribution along environmental gradients, contributing to biodiversity monitoring and conservation efforts across the country. The study also involved the collection of insect occurrence records across eight regions: Kunene, Karas, Khomas, Kavango East, Oshana, Oshikoto, Zambezi, and Hardap.

The aim was to document insect diversity and distribution patterns across environmental gradients to support biodiversity monitoring, conservation planning, and baseline assessments across Namibia. Some of the encountered insect orders included: Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Orthoptera, Blattodea, Hemiptera, Diptera, and Lepidoptera. This dataset captures fine-scale variation in insect communities across Namibia’s heterogeneous environments and complements vertebrate biodiversity data collected in the same plots.
