Listed in GBIF

This dataset contains the digitized treatments in Plazi based on the original journal article Goldberg, Stephen R., Bursey, Charles R., Kusamba, Chifundera, Mali, Franck M., Greenbaum, Eli (2021): Helminths from three common species of African Toads (Anura, Bufonidae, Sclerophrys).

Description

Alytes 38 (1 - 4): 49-57, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.16896326 Forty-two toads, Sclerophrys gutturalis (n = 15), S. pusilla (n = 15) and S. regularis (n = 12) were examined for helminths.

Eight species of Nematoda (Aplectana macintoshii, A. praeputialis, Chabaudus leberrei, Cosmocerca ornata, Neofoleyellides boerewors, Orneoascaris chrysanthemoides, Rhabdias bufonis and Meteterakis sp.) and one species of Cestoda (Cylindrotaenia jaegerskioeldi) were found. Sclerophrys regularis contained the largest number of helminth species (5), whereas S. gutturalis and S. pusilla only contained 3. The greatest number of helminths (120) and the highest prevalence (75 %) was for O. chrysanthemoides in S. regularis.
