These percentages calculated on about 05 Feb 2022, revised on about 01 April 2022 WTPD data from Hoogland et al, 2019, Figure 13 and page 9 BTPD data from Hoogland 1995; N = 958 = juveniles; see also Fig 20.7.
Description
For BTPDs, N = 958 comes from Table 12.2 of Hoogland 1995 All information from paternities determined by microsatellites = microsats or electrophoresis Res male = Resident adult male in home territory/ I checked these data TWO times on 01 April 2022.

Sample sizes for each species are in labels to Fig 20.8 Sample sizes are for females for which we had (a) good information on order of males that copulated with her and (b) good information on paternity from behavioral observations in behavioral observations in combination with either electrophoresis (BTPDS) or microsats = microsatellites (GPDs, UPDs, and (WTPDs). All data shown here are from females that copulated with two or more males-- --no information that monandrous females that copulated with only a single male.
Bars in Fig 20.8 show percentage of litters sired (a) wholly by the first male that copulated (single paternity), (b) wholly by the second- or later copulating male (single paternity), or (c) two or more males (multiple paternity) These data used for Fig 20.8 in Hoogland 2026. This file ready for longterm storage on 07 April 2025. I considered data from the same prairie dog in different years to be independent.
