Resilience and recovery after climate disasters

Listed in ZivaHub

As climate change increases the frequency and severity of natural disasters, there is growing urgency to help communities prepare for and recover from disasters.

Description

External support both from institutions and personal networks is considered crucial for disaster resilience, but less is known about the accessibility and benefit of these supports. This thesis examines whether government recovery grants are distributed equitably, how disasters affect interpersonal support networks, and whether interpersonal connections mitigate the economic impacts of disasters.

The findings inform policies aimed at making disaster recovery funding more equitable and support investment in the social connections that help communities recover.
