<p dir="ltr">Fungal infections are becoming more deadly and difficult to treat due to the growing prevalence of antimicrobial resistance to currently available antifungal treatments.
Description
A major contributing factor to the decreased efficacy of some antifungals is the lack of successful drug entry into the cell. Therefore, new drug delivery methods are needed, such as cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs), which have demonstrated success in delivering antibacterial drug cargo into bacteria but have received limited research on their application in fungi.<br>In this research, antifungals are chemically connected to a CPP that acts as a VIP courier to deliver the antifungal drug parcel into the VIP location, the fungal cell.
The biological activity and efficacy of this system is evaluated across various fungal species that infect plants and mammals. </p>
