Epimegabenthos based on seafloor georeferenced mosaics of the Lofoten-Vesterålen canyon seeps

The mosaics were inputted into Arc Desktop and using the Editor tool, all fauna were identified, marked and enumerated. All individuals were marked to obtain numbers for each taxon. Colonial or encrusting animals were outlined to obtain areal coverage.

Identifications were made to the lowest possible level which was species in many cases, but only phylum in some cases. The faunal data from the two mosaics of inner parts of the seep in the southern canyon were used in the publication by Sen et al. 2019 'Atypical biological features of a new cold seep site on the Lofoten-Vesterålen continental margin (northern Norway) in Scientific Reports. The other mosaics are used in a publication by Sen et al. on communities at the edges of seeps.
