Dataset summary:Seedling growth (measured every May and November over 10 years): height (cm) and relative growth rate (RGR, calculated over 6‑month intervals) for each woody seedling (<1 cm DBH).Neighborhood density (1 × 1 m seedling plot): conspecific and heterospecific seedling density (focal seedlings = post‑establishment recruits; pre‑existing seedlings included as neighbors only).Neighborhood adult trees (20 m radius): distance‑weighted total basal area of conspecific and heterospecific trees (DBH ≥1 cm).Bulk soil fungi (150 mixed samples from seed‑trap stations): ASV richness and relative abundance of ectomycorrhizal (EcM) and putative pathogenic fungi.Rhizosphere fungi (collected from target seedlings outside the plot): ASV richness and relative abundance of EcM and pathogenic fungi.Spatial / exclusion: plot location (101°34′E, 21°36′N), 10‑year monitoring period; 66 seedling plots within 20 m of the plot edge were excluded from neighbor density analyses.
