Mechanism understanding of NOx storage, release and reduction on Pt/Doped ceria catalysts

This doctoral thesis addresses the pressing need for advanced emission control technologies in diesel engines to meet stringent governmental regulations targeting harmful pollutants, especially nitrogen oxides (NOx). <br><br>Catalysis, particularly involving ceria doped with rare earth metals, is a promising avenue for enhancing NOx reduction in diesel exhausts. The study explores the substantial impact of rare earth metal doping, specifically utilising samarium (Sm), on the low-temperature NOx storage capabilities of ceria-based catalysts, including platinum* ceria catalysts with varied platinum loadings.<br><br>Through diverse characterisation techniques, the research investigates the complexities between RE metal addition, especially Sm, surface chemistry modifications, and resulting behaviours related to NOx storage and reduction.<br>
