The Separation: Individuation Process in Taiwan

Listed in Harvard Dataverse

Psychoanalysts emphasize the importance of a person’s separation-individuation process.

Description

Due to the differences between the Eastern and Western cultures, there might exist some specific points in the separation-individuation process of the Chinese in Taiwan and thus a local study on this process is both necessary and important. This study was the third year of the project “The separation-individuation process in Taiwan.” Its purpose was to establish the norm of the Separation-Individuation Inventory.

This study used cluster sampling method and 10,495 copies of questionnaire were sent out in total. All together 1573 valid copies from high-school students, 1802 from college students, and 1371 from adults, were collected, and thus 3 separate norms of the Separation-Individuation Inventory were constructed.
