Protracted displacement and remittances: the view from Eastleigh, Nairobi

Based on qualitative research conducted in 2005, this paper explores experiences of the remittance process among Somali refugees living in Nairobi.
Description
It is found that remittances are an important aspect of refugee livelihoods and can improve recipients' welfare, they do not provide a solution to refugees' legal predicament in the way that repatriation, local integration or resettlement in a third country can be.
