Task-based fMRI Dataset for Item-Method Directed Forgetting
Listed in ScienceDB
OverviewThis dataset comprises task-based functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data from 42 healthy young adults who performed an item-method directed forgetting (DF) paradigm.
Description
The study investigated how the human brain dynamically reconfigures its large-scale functional network architecture to support intentional remembering and forgetting. The dataset includes raw and preprocessed fMRI data, structural images, behavioral performance records, and task timing files, enabling the replication of both univariate activation analyses and complex network-level (graph theory) investigations.Participants and TaskForty-two right-handed, healthy participants (14 male, aged 18–27 years) were included.
During the fMRI scanning, participants viewed 160 neutral face stimuli (sourced from the Chicago Face Database), each followed by a cue instructing them to either remember (To-Be-Remembered, TBR) or forget (To-Be-Forgotten, TBF) the item. Approximately 10–15 minutes after the encoding phase, a subsequent recognition memory test was conducted outside the scanner to assess memory sensitivity (d’) and response bias.MRI Data AcquisitionFunctional and structural images were acquired using a 3T uMR NX system (United Imaging Healthcare, Shanghai, China).

Functional data were collected using a multiband echo-planar imaging (EPI) sequence with the following parameters: repetition time (TR) = 2000 ms, echo time (TE) = 30 ms, flip angle = 90°, field of view (FOV) = 224 mm, voxel size = 2 × 2 × 2 mm³, and 62 axial slices. High-resolution T1-weighted anatomical images were acquired using a magnetization-prepared rapid gradient-echo (MPRAGE) sequence: TR = 7.1 ms, TE = 3 ms, flip angle = 7°, FOV = 224 mm, and voxel size = 1 × 1 × 1 mm³.
