Contemporary romanticism: a portfolio of original compositions

In addition to these characteristics, each work also shares a connection to my study of Romanticism in both its historic and its contemporary incarnations. Through the process of assembling the portfolio I have overviewed Romanticism as an artistic trend, examined it as both an historic and a contemporary musical influence, interrogated my concerns with some of its recent musical manifestations, and articulated a methodology whereby the contemporary composer is encouraged to consider it in a new light, and draw fresh conclusions from its attitude of questioning, self-reflection, and free expression.
