Checklist of Vascular Plants of the Zarafshan River Tugai Ecosystems, Uzbekistan

The checklist comprises 267 species belonging to 178 genera and 47 families and was compiled from 56 geobotanical relevés. Most of the recent data was obtained during field surveys conducted between 2021 and 2025 in Samarkand, Navoi, and Bukhara Regions.

Historical geobotanical records available in the IBIS database, as well as information from published geobotanical and floristic sources, were additionally used in compiling the checklist. The recent field investigations were conducted within the framework of the fundamental research project F-FA-2021-450, “History of the Formation and Current Development Trends of Tugai Vegetation in Uzbekistan under Global Changes in Hydroclimatic Conditions and Anthropogenic Transformation.” The checklist reflects the floristic diversity of floodplain forests and shrub communities, wet and mesic floodplain habitats, reed and herbaceous vegetation, and adjacent transitional ecosystems of the Zarafshan River valley.
