The Proper Typological Relationship between Condominiums and Its Common Facilities

Listed in Harvard Dataverse

Condo has been an important housing type over the last two decades in Taiwan.

Description

From the viewpoint of efficiency, this study focuses on the proper typological relationship between condos and their common facilities. Interviews, questionnaires, and simulation are all used in this study.

It found that except for the high-priced condominiums, common facilities were inappropriately provided in most cases. In addition, neither the building industry nor the condo communities are aware of the heavy financial burden in facility maintenance. The study also argued that the economy of scale in large project were serious damaged by the increased facility requirement for higher buildings.
