Diversity of Cladocera and Cyclestherida (Crustacea, Branchiopoda, Diplostraca) in continental water bodies of southern Vietnam

Listed in GBIF

Microscopic crustaceans are known to dominate in zooplankton and zoobenthos of most continental water bodies and are widely used in aquaculture as a fish food.

Description

At the same time, their fauna is non-proportionally studied in different regions of the World. In the Republic of Vietnam, the last large-scale study of the Branchiopoda fauna was conducted in 1980.

Our samples were collected in southern Vietnam in 2023–2025 in the frames of activity of the Joint Vietnam–Russia Tropical Science and Technology Research Center. In total, we found 80 species and 45 genera of Cladocera and Cyclestherida in 479 samples from 360 sites.
