Replication data for Fig 14.7, UPDs, Males, Body mass vs Probability of copulation, 05 May 2026

Listed in data.InDoRES

I created this file from SYSTAT file = utahwts, which I created on 24 Aug 2010.

Description

Note in my AL office says that I checked this file TWO TIMES Repro = 0 for UPD males = no evidence for mating = no PS, no DT or no evidence for cops Repro = 1 for UPD males = evidence of mating from cops or from PSDT I assume that all UPD females copulated every year--so no cases of cops= 0 for females Repro = 0 for UPD females = no weaned litter Repro = 1 for UPD females = female weaned >=1 baby For BTPD males and females, I could compare body mass during the mating season with probabiliity of copulation For UPDs, I also could compare body mass during the mating season with (a) probability of weaning a litter for females and (b) evidence of copulation (observed copulation, or PSDT) for males For GPDs, UPDs, and WTPDs, I assume that EVERY FEMALE copulated every year.

I observed very few exceptions to this axiom. Indeed, I am certain of <1-2 exceptions for each of these three species. Note on 15 March 2022: This file does not contain any information on male or female IMMIIGRANTS.

So, excluded are UPDs such as HBB (H93) in 1997, 12 (H87) in 1997, and R21 (G41) in 2004. I will not add these immigrants--but they probably SHOULD BE in this file. I never knew the exact age for immigrants.

Sex = 1 = male, and sex = 2 = female These data used for Figure 14.7 in Hoogland 2026. This file ready for longterm storage on 07 March 2025. Wt = weight = body mass Age = age in years since first emergence from natal nursery-burrow This file does NOT contain eartag numbers.

UPD number = designation for a male in a single year. I have used data from the same male in different years, and I considered data from the same male in different years to be independent. Body mass during mating season = body mass just before, during, or just after mating season.

I defined mating season as the time interval between (and including) the first and the last copulation at the study colony. Body mass at first juvenile emergences = body mass just before, during, or just after the time period when juveniles were first emerging from their natal nursery-burrows. Note: this file includes data from both UPD males and UPD females.

Data in Fig 14.7 of Hoogland 2016, however, are for UPD males only/ Almost all UPD males at >=2 years copulated. Yearling UPD males sometimes DID copulate, but often did NOT copulate. See Chapter 11 of Hoogland 2026.

All body masses are in GRAMS. File name = Fig 14.7, UPDs, Males, Body mass vs Probability of copulation, 05 May 2026
