Global transcriptional profile of the UV-treated Zdr1 deletion mutant, a gene involved in the maintenance of genome integrity in Ustilago maydis

Listed in NCBI GEO

Given that Zdr1- the protein we previously identified (Azanjac et al., 2024) is a nuclear protein containing Zn-finger domain, and binds to dsDNA, we investigated possibility of its role in regulation of gene expression.

Description

We analysed differentially expressed genes in wt and ∆zdr1 cells upon UV treatment. Since no transcriptomic datasets have yet been reported for Ustilago maydis in response to UV irradiation, we first performed a comprehensive transcriptome analysis of wild-type cells exposed to UV and subsequently recovered for 1 h in growth medium.

This profiling established the foundation for further analysis of ∆zdr1-specific transcriptional response.
