Lichen occurrences from epiphytic communities in Quercus forests in northern Portugal (2004)

The study was conducted as part of an undergraduate internship in Biology at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto and CIBIO, under the project "Estudo comparativo das comunidades epifíticas brio-liquénicas das florestas do Norte de Portugal", completed in 2005.

Sampling was conducted in six sites representing three forest types: pure Quercus robur forests, pure Q. pyrenaica forests, and mixed forests of Q. robur and Q. pyrenaica. Epiphytic bryophytes and lichens were recorded on mature trees using a standardised sampling design covering different heights and exposures on the trunk. The bryophyte component of the study was subsequently analysed and published by Marques et al. (2005), whereas the lichen occurrence data remained unpublished.
