Austrian Herpetofauna Database

The sources of these records include publications as well as unpublished studies, such as doctoral theses or reports, collection specimens, historical files, field data provided by professional and non-professional herpetologists, and data exchanged with private and official organisations which prepare regional herpetological inventories.

Records that are already available on GBIF were generally not included in this dataset. Restricted or withheld data that were not included in the dataset, as well as supplementary information on population sizes and habitat characteristics are available upon request. The data were made available through the Biodiversitätsfonds-Project "Amphibien und Reptilien Österreichs" (C321083), funded by the Austrian government and the EU.
