Replication data for Figs 15.7, 15.8, and 15.9, UPDs, Start times for UCs and CUCs, 16 May 2026

Listed in data.InDoRES

For CUC last or Next To Last: 1 = last and 2 = Next TO Last This file has now been checked ONE TIME ONLY.

Description

Many data checked TWO TIMES. Did Un = WARS copulate twice in 2002?

Or mistaken ID for one? I score two estrus + cops for Un = Wars? I DO score times of aboveground cops as times for underground consortships For WTPDs, I DID NOT score times of aboveground cops as times for underground consortships With a few exceptions, this file only contains data from UPD females observed for estrus and copulations.

Times here reflect FRACTIONS OF HOURS. First UC Start of 14.5, for example, means 230 rather than 205. For another example, CUC Start of 1783 means time of 1750 hours.

Abovecop = 0 means CUC was UNDERGROUND. Abovecop = 1 means CUC was CAC instead and was ABOVEGROUND. Abovecop = Aboveground copulation UC = Underground Consortship CUC = Critical Underground Consortship, when insemination probably occurred CAC = Critical Aboveground Consortship, when insemination probably occurred These data used for Figures 15.7, 15.8, and 15.9 in Hoogland 2026.

This file ready for longterm storage on 15 March 2025. Each line contains information from one prairie dog per year. I considered data from the same female in different years to be independent.

All times are 24-hour times (military times). A few UPD females came into estrus TWO TIME in the same year. Sometimes I had data for BOTH periods of estrus, but other times I had data for only one period of estrus.

See comments regarding UPD females with two periods of estrus in the same year/ Each UPD female could have only ONE First UC and only ONE Last UC But a UPD female could have had 2-3 CUCs or 2-3 CACs if she received sperm from 2-3 males. Times for a 2nd and 3rd CUC or CAC are on a separate line for same female This file contains info on CUC Last or Next to last. I do NOT use this information for Figs 15.7, 15.8, and 15.9.

I DO use this information in text of Hoogland 2026 File name = Figs 15.7, 15.8, and 15.9, UPDs, Start times for UCs and CUCs, 16 May 2026
