Checklist of Vascular Plants of the Syr Darya Tugai Ecosystems, Uzbekistan

The checklist includes 314 species belonging to 208 genera and 61 families and was compiled from 61 geobotanical relevés. Most of the recent vegetation records were obtained during field investigations carried out between 2021 and 2025 in Namangan, Andijan, Fergana, Tashkent, and Syrdarya Regions.

Historical geobotanical records available in the IBIS database, together with information from published geobotanical and floristic sources, including Vegetation Cover of Uzbekistan, were also taken into account. The recent field investigations were conducted within the framework of the fundamental research project F-FA-2021-450, “History of the Formation and Current Development Trends of Tugai Vegetation in Uzbekistan under Global Changes in Hydroclimatic Conditions and Anthropogenic Transformation.” The checklist encompasses woody and shrubby floodplain vegetation, reed and wetland communities, floodplain meadows and herbaceous vegetation, as well as transitional habitats between the river floodplain and the surrounding arid landscapes.
