The Effect of SDWT\'s Internal Group Dynamics, External Support Mechanisms and Team Process on Team Effectiveness: An Example of Information System Development

Listed in Harvard Dataverse

With increased levels of self-directed work teams (SDWT), many researches have suggested that SDWTs can improve job performance and work satisfaction.

Description

The research mainly focuses on the investigation of current status for IS SDWTs and its linkage with team effectiveness. Primarily, by analyzing team internal group dynamics, organization external support mechanisms and team process (team development and team design), we can truly understand their relationships with team effectiveness.

The results indicate that team internal group dynamics, organization external support mechanisms, and team process are positively correlated to team effectiveness. Furthermore, it appears that team development and team internal group dynamics have significant effects on team effectiveness. Therefore, we suggest that managers should specifically emphasis on team development and internal group dynamic in order to improve team effectiveness.
