Listed in National Center for Atmospheric Research

This technical note serves several purposes.

Description

In Part I, the development of adjoints is described in general terms for spatially and temporally discrete models. In Part II, the nonlinear, tangent linear, and adjoint equations are described.

The software is described in Part III. A user's guide containing essential instructions for running and interpreting the software appears in Part IV.
