The Study of the Quality of School Life for Youth with Mental Retardations in Taiwan

Second, to investigate the differences in their quality of school life in three respects of the following variables: the personal background (sex,disability level, placement at juniior high school), the family background (the socioeconomic status of family, other mental-retarded family), and the school background (grades, current placement).

The survey questionnaire were sent to 240 youth with mental retardations. The assessing insturment was \" The Quality of School Life Questionnaire\" The data obtained were analyzed by the means, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The main findings were summarized as follows: 1.The quality of school life for youth with mental retardationswas positive. 2.There was no significant difference in quality of school life for youth withmental retardations with different sexes. 3.There was a significant difference in quality of school life for youth withmental retardations with different disability level. 4.There was a signficant difference in quality of school life for youth with mental retardations with different placement at junior high school. 5.There was no significant difference in quality of school life for youth with mental retardations with different socioeconomic status of family. 6.There was no significant difference in quality of school life for youth with mental retardations with other mental-retarded family. 7.There was no significant difference in quality of school life for youth with mental retardations with different grades status. 8.There was no significant difference in quality of school life for youth with mental retardation with different current placement.
