This report evaluates the agreement reached on cessation of hostilities in Aceh between the Indonesian government and GAM (the pro-independence Free Aceh Movement), on 9 December 2002.
Description
It notes that this agreement is a framework for negotiating a resolution of the conflict and remains fragile, with the real possibility of renewed violence. Thus the report concludes with recommendations to the government and GAM during the implementation phase of the agreement.
