The Studies on the Tourists\' Continuous Behavior: Space-Time Budge

Listed in Harvard Dataverse

Domestic tourism is currently a hot wave in Taiwan area.

Description

The results of this wave brought back the research interest on tourist behavior. To review the tourism research related literature, it is quite obvious that questionnaire survey is still one of the major research techniques.

It was concluded that traditional survey is restricted on the limitation of obtaining only partial information on tourist behavior. This restriction sometimes biases the actual behavior expressed by the tourists. This research is originated to supplement the lack of a continuous analysis on tourist behavior.

Form the viewpoint of economic theory, the resources are definitely limited (just like the time of a day). So people can only participate in a few activities in a limited time. If only the information of a specific time spot is collected, it will bias the judgment on the interpretation of the information.

According the points mentioned above, this research carefully selects the Green Island to be the research target, and tries to conduct a space-time analysis on the tourists visiting the Green Island. The research contents contain a literature review, a space-time budget survey, and a construction of a continuous tourist behavior analysis in the temporal and spatial dimension respectively and collectively. The results of this research will provide significant suggestions to and benefit the related tourism industry and administration.
