This dataset contains primary occurrence records of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (phylum Glomeromycota) collected from northern India.
Description
The records originate exclusively from the author’s own research projects and publications, including: UGC Major Research Project (2015–2018) UGC (MRP-MAJOR-BOTA-2013-21235) in 2015 -2018 funded by University Grants Commission, 35, Firoze Shah Road, Delhi, India – 110001. budget 15.05 lacs.
Title “Monitoring Arbuscular Mycorrhizal fungal biodiversity in northern India with computational databases and platforms”. Innovation Project, University of Delhi (2013-2015) SAC 206 “Building Biodiversity database for vesicular mycorrhizal fungi in Delhi- An investigation with soil chemical analysis and its impact on microbial life”. The dataset covers locations in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan.

Species names have been standardized against Index Fungorum, and accepted names with authorship are provided. Higher taxonomic classification (Kingdom to Genus) is included. Most identifications are morphological; a limited number of records are supported by molecular sequence data (GenBank accessions provided where available).
Soil samples were collected and AMF spores extracted using wet-sieving and decanting / sucrose centrifugation techniques. Species were identified primarily on morphological characters using standard taxonomic keys. A subset of records is supported by molecular sequence data deposited in GenBank.
