Residential Finance Survey (RFS) Detail File

The RFS detail file was used by the agency to prepare reports and as the basis for creating the RFS Public Use Microdata File. This series contains 34 record types with data on the characteristics of the financing of homeowner and rental properties, including characteristics of the mortgages, properties, and property owners.

Data items include name and address; mortgage origination and reasons for obtaining additional mortgages; year property acquired; property acquisition characteristics; property owner demographics; real estate taxes; and mortgage financing and home equity loan details.
