Comments from Three Youtube Clips Analysed in "Pragmatics in Contested Interpretation: Varied Audiences, Varied Implicatures, Varied Inferences"
Listed in SWISSUbase
These three datasets contain samples of the top 100 comments extracted from three YouTube videos - two of which feature President Donald Trump and one that features President Joseph Biden - in which controversial comments were made during a presidential election.
Description
The comments on these videos featuring these controversial statements were selected because of the contested nature in which they were interpreted by different segments of society.
The content of these comments was analysed in the monograph by Bourgeois & Bousfield (2026), which was written with the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) Postdoc.Mobility Fellowship (P500PH_210773).
