DNA Methylation Changes in Placental Tissue of Small-for-Gestational-Age Neonates: A Systematic Review

Listed in Riga Stradins University dataverse

DNA methylation (DNAm) is a crucial epigenetic regulator of placental function.

Description

Aberrant DNAm may be associated with endocrine, metabolic, and neurodevelopmental pathways involved in placental adaptation and fetal growth, including small-for-gestational-age (SGA) neonates. This systematic review aims to critically evaluate the evidence for a functional role of DNAm in epigenetic mechanisms associated with SGA neonates and to identify recurrent loci and biological pathways implicated in fetal growth regulation.
