Polarized Electron Beam Generation by Phase-Locked Direct Laser Acceleration Dataset

Listed in ScienceDB

## Dataset DescriptionThis dataset contains numerical simulation results for investigating electron spin dynamics during Direct Laser Acceleration (DLA) in ultra-intense laser fields.

Description

The simulations were performed using a test-particle approach based on the relativistic Newton–Lorentz equation coupled with the Thomas–Bargmann–Michel–Telegdi (TBMT) equation to describe electron spin precession in electromagnetic fields. The electron trajectories in the laser field were calculated by solving the relativistic Newton–Lorentz equation, using a fourth-order Runge–Kutta numerical method, while the spin evolution was computed using the Boris algorithm.

Compared with particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations, the test-particle model provides detailed information on electron phase-space and spin evolution with significantly reduced computational cost. The dataset focuses on electron acceleration and spin polarization during vacuum DLA after reflection of an ultra-relativistic laser pulse from a plasma mirror. In this process, Brunel electrons emitted from the plasma surface are directly captured by the reflected laser field and accelerated to relativistic energies.

The laser pulse amplitude used in the simulations was a_0 = 100.Initially, electrons were emitted at phases corresponding to integer multiples of the laser wavelength along the propagation axis. Each emitted electron bunch had a longitudinal length of \(\lambda/10\), a transverse radius of \(\lambda\), and an average initial kinetic energy of 1.5 MeV. The initial electron spin vector was set to \((s_x, s_y, s_z) = (1,0,0)\), corresponding to spin alignment along the positive x-axis.The dataset records the temporal evolution of electron momentum, energy, position, and spin polarization during the DLA process.

The results show that phase-locked electrons accelerated by the laser field can achieve kinetic energies exceeding 8.6 GeV with a final spin polarization of 81.66%.This dataset is intended for studies of relativistic laser–plasma interactions, spin-resolved particle acceleration, and polarized electron beam generation in ultra-intense laser environments.
