Business Expenditures Survey Summary Files

The agency produced summary statistic files for researchers. This series supplements the basic economic statistics produced by the Economic Census for the wholesale trade, retail trade, and services sector industries with estimates of operating expenses.

The series includes summary data on operating expenses including annual payroll; supplemental labor costs; depreciation and amortizatio n charges; taxes and license fees; lease and rental payments; and cost of office supplies, contract labor, materials, contract work, and purchased services. It also provides measures of value produced for merchant wholesale and retail trades. This data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC).
