Master List of Oil and Gas Field Codes

This series contains standardized field name spellings and codes for all identified oil and gas fields in the United States. An Invalid Field Record List file contains records removed from the previous years file because they were either technically incorrect or represented field names which were never recognized by state naming authorit ies.

The records contain the field code, field or alias name, state code, county code, county name, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission geographic code, year of discovery of oil and gas, oil indicator, gas indicator, source of field name, remarks, alias type, correct and intermediate field names and codes, and year alias was assigned. This data comprises government records extracted from the Archival Research Catalog (ARC).
